Corrections

Material corrections are recorded here with the date and a description of what changed. Silent editing of a factual claim is not a correction.

The current record

No material corrections have been issued since this publication was rebuilt on 25 August 2026. When one is issued it will appear here with the date, the article affected, what was wrong and what it now says.

An empty record on a new site is not a claim to accuracy. It is a statement about how long the site has existed.

What counts as a material correction

A change to a factual claim, a source, a figure, a piece of guidance or an attribution. These are recorded here and the article's review date is updated.

Typographical fixes, clarifications of wording that do not change meaning, and routine updates to a link are not recorded here, because a corrections page that logs every comma stops being readable and therefore stops being useful.

Where guidance has changed rather than where we were wrong

Statutory frameworks and clinical guidelines are revised. Where an article described guidance accurately at its review date and that guidance has since changed, the article is updated and the change is noted here as a guidance update rather than as a correction, because the two are different and conflating them is misleading.

How to raise something

Through the contact page. The most useful message a reader can send is a source challenge: a claim on this site, and the reason you believe the source does not support it. Those are treated as the highest priority category of message and are answered whether or not they result in a change.

The fortnightly letter

One piece of evidence, explained properly, every fortnight

What a piece of research on children and play actually found, what it did not find, and whether it should change anything. No product recommendations, because this publication does not make any.
