Terms of use

Plain terms for a publication that sells nothing except a labelled line in a newsletter.

What this site is

A reference publication about child development through play, published by Northbank Media. It is editorial content. It is not a service, not a product and not a professional relationship of any kind.

Not advice

Nothing on this site is clinical, medical, psychological, educational or legal advice. It does not assess, screen for or diagnose anything, and it cannot substitute for a professional who knows the child in question. Any concern about a child's development, health or wellbeing belongs with a health visitor, GP or the child's setting.

Where an article summarises a statutory framework, a clinical guideline or public health guidance, the published document itself is authoritative and the summary is not. Those documents are revised and a summary can fall out of date between reviews.

Accuracy and review dates

Articles carry the date on which they were written and reviewed, and that date is truthful and is not moved to make a page appear fresh. Reasonable care is taken with every factual claim and no publication can guarantee that everything on it is correct at every moment. Corrections are made through the process described on the corrections page.

External links

Links to other sites are provided because those sources are public and checkable. This publication does not control them, is not responsible for their content, and does not endorse them. All external links here carry a nofollow attribute.

No commercial relationships in editorial

No business, brand, venue, class, product or practitioner has any commercial arrangement affecting the editorial content of this site, and none is named in it. The single commercial placement this publication offers is described on the newsletter page.

Copyright

Editorial content on this site is the copyright of Northbank Media. Quotation for the purposes of reporting, review, research and criticism is welcome under the usual fair dealing provisions, with attribution to this publication and a link to the article quoted. Wholesale reproduction is not permitted.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

The fortnightly letter

One piece of evidence, explained properly, every fortnight

What a piece of research on children and play actually found, what it did not find, and whether it should change anything. No product recommendations, because this publication does not make any.

One sponsored line per issue, marked as sponsored, at a published rate. Nothing else is sold. See newsletter and sponsorship for the rate and for the list of things it cannot buy.
